T. Wright Barksdale, III serves as the District Attorney for the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit, which encompasses eight counties in middle Georgia. A lifelong advocate for public service, Wright graduated summa cum laude from Georgia Southern University in 2009 before earning his law degree from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School in 2012.

Wright has dedicated his entire legal career to prosecution. He spent seven years as an Assistant District Attorney in the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit before being elected District Attorney in 2020.  Wright continues to maintain an active caseload and personally tries some of the circuit’s most serious and complex cases, including murders, violent felonies, and high-profile prosecutions. Among the most notable cases of his career, Wright served as lead prosecutor in two death penalty trials arising from the brutal murders of Sgt. Christopher Monica and Sgt. Curtis Billue during a prison escape.

Beyond his responsibilities in the courtroom, Wright is actively involved in supporting prosecutors across the state. He currently serves as a Council Member of the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia and as Vice President of the District Attorneys’ Association of Georgia.

When he is not working, Wright enjoys spending time with his wife and family, coaching youth basketball, and hunting. His commitment to service, both in and out of the courtroom, reflects his dedication to the communities he serves.
